FRCC Boys Basketball History

The Fox River Classic Conference began competing in 2007 when the eight schools of the former Fox River Valley Conference were joined by four schools from the Bay Conference forming a twelve team league.

Schools of the Fox River Valley:  Green Bay East, Green Bay Preble, Green Bay Southwest, Green Bay West, Manitowoc Lincoln, Notre Dame Academy, Sheboygan North and Sheboygan South.

Bay Conference Schools:  Ashwaubenon, Bay Port, De Pere and Pulaski.

This configuration of schools remained intact through the 2014 school year.  Green Bay East and Green Bay West left the FRCC and joined the Bay Conference at the start of the 2015 school year making the FRCC a 10-team league.

From the 2007 through 2014 school years the league was split into an East and West Division where teams played the other teams in their division twice and teams from the other division once.  This format allowed for teams to still be able to play a non-conference schedule.  Starting with the 2015 school year after East and West left to join the Bay Conference, the FRCC went to a double round robin format, playing each team in the conference twice.

Sheboygan South will leave the FRCC after the 2024-25 season to join a newly formed conference and West De Pere will become the newest member of the FRCC keeping the league at 10 teams.  The FRCC will continue with their double round robin format. 

De Pere and Bay Port have been the dominant teams since the formation of the FRCC.  De Pere has ten conference titles including undefeated seasons in 24/25 (18-0), 23/24 (18-0), 22/23 (18-0), 11/12 (16-0) and 09/10 (16-0).  The Redbirds followed up their 2022/23 undefeated conference mark by winning the WIAA Division 1 State Tournament concluding the season with an undefeated mark of 30-0.  De Pere defeated Arrowhead 69-49 in the State Championship game.  With those 30 wins De Pere recorded the most wins in a season of any champion in the history of the state of Wisconsin.

The Redbirds currently hold a 58 game win streak in the Fox River Classic Conference and will look to add to that streak in the 2025-26 season.  De Pere’s last FRCC loss was to  Bay Port 79-77 in overtime on February 8, 2022.

Bay Port has six titles to their Credit.  The Pirates won the first two titles of the FRCC, finishing the 08/09 campaign with an undefeated 17-0 record in the conference.  Bay Port also won the 16/17 conference championship with an undefeated record of 18-0.

Three other teams have won a single FRCC Championship:  Green Bay Southwest (18/19), Sheboygan North (15/16) and Ashwaubenon (13/14).

In addition to the De Pere Redbird WIAA State Title, The Pulaski Red Raiders claimed the first ever WIAA State Title in boys basketball for the FRCC by beating Wisconsin Lutheran in the Division 2 WIAA State Championship game in 2013 48-40.

The De Pere Redbirds had a chance to stake that claim, but in 2011 they finished as a runner-up to Madison Memorial for the Division 1 State Title losing in triple overtime by a score of 80-78.
