FRCC Boys Cross Country History

The Fox River Classic Conference came into existence in the 2007 school year.  The Conference brought together the eight members of the Fox River Valley Conference and added four teams from the Bay Conference to form the twelve member FRCC.

Fox River Valley Conference members:  Green Bay East, Green Bay Preble, Green Bay Southwest, Green Bay West, Notre Dame Academy, Manitowoc Lincoln, Sheboygan North and Sheboygan South.

Bay Conference members:  Ashwaubenon, Bay Port, De Pere and Pulaski.

This configuration of schools made up the Conference until the 2015 school year when Green Bay East and Green Bay West left the FRCC to join the Bay Conference, bringing the Conference to its current ten team make-up.

The Cross Country Conference Champion has been and continues to be determined solely at Conference Championship meet.  Green Bay Preble has the most titles claiming eight Championships since the formation of the FRCC in 2007, including the 2024 championship.  The Hornets also won the Conference meet held during the 2020/21 school year which was held in the spring of 2021 because of the Covid Pandemic.  The FRCC however, did not recognize conference champions during that school year in any sport because of the pandemic.

Bay Port has the next most titles with five including the first four titles contested.

Notre Dame Academy has claimed three titles, all coming since 2018.  The Tritons have parlayed that recent success by fielding very competitive teams at the WIAA State Championships.  The Notre Dame boys were runners-up in Division 2 at the WIAA State Meet held at the Ridges Golf Course in Wisconsin Rapids in 2018, 2019 and 2021 and claimed the Division 2 State Championship in 2022.  The Tritons are the only FRCC School to have won a Championship at the WIAA State Cross Country Meet.

Sheboygan North holds the other Conference Championship winning the title in 2012.

From 2007 to 2013 while a twelve team conference the FRCC also held a West Division and an East Division meet which was held the week before the conference meet.  In the West Division, Bay Port won four of those meets and Ashwaubenon won the other three.  In the East Division Green Bay Preble claimed five titles and Sheboygan North captured the other two.

The FRCC has not had a State Cross Country Champion in boys competition, but they have been close.  McKenna Ramos of Sheboygan South was a runner-up in Division 1 in 2012, Alec Basten of Green Bay Southwest finished as a runner-up in Division 1 in 2015 and most recently, Grady Lenn of De Pere finished as the runner-up in Division 1 in 2024.
