Boys Swim and Dive History
The Fox River Classic Conference began competing in 2007 when the eight schools of the former Fox River Valley Conference were joined by four schools from the Bay Conference forming a twelve team league.
Schools of the Fox River Valley: Green Bay East, Green Bay Preble, Green Bay Southwest, Green Bay West, Manitowoc Lincoln, Notre Dame Academy, Sheboygan North and Sheboygan South.
Bay Conference Schools: Ashwaubenon, Bay Port, De Pere and Pulaski.
This configuration of schools remained intact through the 2014 school year. Green Bay East and Green Bay West left the FRCC and joined the Bay Conference at the start of the 2015 school year leaving the FRCC with its current make-up of 10 schools.
Since the beginning of the FRCC schools competing in swim and dive have consisted of the same seven teams: Ashwaubenon, Bay Port, Green Bay United, Manitowoc Lincoln, Pulaski, Sheboygan North and Sheboygan South. Green Bay United is made up of the four Green Bay Public Schools (East, Preble, Southwest and West). Neither De Pere or Notre Dame Academy have ever fielded a boys swim and dive team.
Bay Port has dominated the conference over the seventeen years of its existence. The Pirates have won the title twelve times. They have won the last eight titles and also won the first four titles in the conference. In between those two streaks Ashwaubenon and Manitowoc won two titles each. There was no conference champion crowned in 2020-21 because of the Covid pandemic.
Ashwaubenon, who competes at the Division 2 level of the WIAA State Swim and Dive meet is the only school with a Championship or Runner-up finish. The Jaguars finished as the Runner-up in the 2017 State Meet. The rest of the FRCC Schools compete predominantly at the Division 1 level with the exception of Pulaski who has bounced around somewhat between Division 2 and 1.
The FRCC has had numerous individual State Champions in Boys Swim and Dive, they include:
- William Hayon – Sheboygan North
- Ozan Kalafat – Bay Port
- Kaiser Neverman – Green Bay United
- Nick Tschoeke – Ashwaubenon
- Jake Pelishek – Ashwaubenon
William Hayon, Sheboygan North, also holds the State Record in Division 1 in the 100 yard Butterfly with a time of 47.14 seconds set in 2022.
There have also been two relay teams who won State titles: The 200 Yard Freestyle Relay team from Bay Port in 2011 and the 200 Yard Freestyle Relay team from Ashwaubenon in 2008. You can find the members of those teams below.
