It is a big weekend in the FRCC this weekend. Girls volleyball and boys soccer will begin Sectional play tonight. Round 2 of the football play-offs will take place on Friday. The WIAA State Cross Country Meet will take place on Saturday and the FRCC will hold their Conference Meet for girls swimming on Saturday.
Boys Soccer
Three FRCC teams remain in the WIAA Soccer Tournament. Green Bay Preble and Conference Champion Sheboygan North in Division 1 and Notre Dame Academy in Division 2. Sectional Semi-final game will take place tonight (Thursday). Winners of tonight’s games will move on to the Sectional Final which will take place on Saturday. Green Bay Preble will play at Kimberly at 7:00pm, Sheboygan North will play at Homestead at 7:00pm and Notre Dame Academy will play at Homestead at 7:00pm.

Girls Volleyball
FRCC Champion Bay Port is the last remaining team in the WIAA Girls Volleyball Tournament. The Pirates will host the Sectional Semi-final games in their Sectional tonight (Thursday). #1 seed Kimberly will play #4 seed Xavier at 5:00 and #2 seed Bay Port will play #3 seed at the conclusion of the first game – approximately 7:00pm. In non-conference action earlier this year, Bay Port has beaten Kaukauna and lost to Kimberly. Bay Port did face Xavier this year in non-conference play. If you want to catch some good volleyball tonight, Bay Port is the place to be.

Football
Round 2 of the WIAA football play-offs will take place on Friday. Five teams remain between the FRCC North and South Divisions. In the WIAA Football play-offs, the higher seeded team hosts through Round 3. In Division 1, De Pere will travel to Marquette and FRCC North Division member Bay Port will host FRCC South Division member Sheboygan North. Sheboygan North secured their first ever victory in the WIAA football play-offs with their win last Friday over Milwaukee Reagan. In Division 2, West De Pere will travel to Sun Prairie East and in Division 3 Notre Dame Academy will host Port Washington. All games are 7:00pm start times. West De Pere is hoping to return to the State Championship game, a game they lost to Kettle Moraine in 2022. The Tritons lost in the semi-final in 2023 to Rice Lake and are hoping to take the next step this year.

Cross Country
The WIAA State Cross Country Meet will take place on Saturday at Ridges Golf Course in Wisconsin Rapids. The FRCC will be well-represented in this year’s meet. Green Bay Preble and De Pere will represent the boys in the team competition. Green Bay Preble and Notre Dame Academy will represent the Girls in the team competition. Individual qualifiers representing the FRCC on the boys side include: Joseph Hunt (NDA), Ryan Jadin (Ash), Arden Guillen (Pul) and Carter Thomson (Ash). On the girls side: Olivia Stedl (Pul), Natalie Portman (Man) and Bella Heideman (DP).
Grady Lenn of De Pere (3rd place 2023) and Jacob Nuthals of Green Bay Preble (5th place 2023) and Joseph Hunt of Notre Dame Academy (8th in Division 2 in 2023) will look to make some noise in this year’s meet. Two-time defending Champion Manny Putz of Onalaska returns to this year’s D1 field to defend his title. The Preble boys team finished 6th and De Pere 7th in 2023.

FRCC Girls Swim Meet
The FRCC will crown a champion at FRCC Girls Swim Meet Saturday at Lineville Intermediate School. Start time is listed as 9:00am. Defending Champions Bay Port will be vying for its 13th FRCC Championship at this year’s meet. The Conference Champion is determined solely by the finish in the Conference Meet. During the Dual Meet season, the Pirates went undefeated at 6-0 with Green Bay United finishing at 5-1.
